The Downtown Commission organized a farmer’s market, which took place in the municipal parking lot on First Street between Madison Avenue and Clifton Avenue. One vendor sold his produce this past Sunday morning, with space available for more vendors.
The Commission had proposed the idea for the farmer’s market in April, but the idea was turned down by the Township Committee, citing opposition from local produce store owners. The Commission has now gone ahead with the farmer’s market, seemingly without consent from Committee members. Two members of the Committee were contacted and both said they were unaware of the plan for the farmer’s market prior to its being held.
